Can anyone recommend a jacket for a dog?

I'm looking for something to keep her warm and dry when she's working, maybe something made of neoprene?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

That's a brilliant site, Tuvok!

She's a gun dog, so ideally we are looking for something a bit more reserved and less bulky.

Great idea to put her in after she's had a mucky day at work though.
Not neoprene...but these are supposed to be very good.

Are you a picker-up 2sp?
Question Author
Thanks pasta, I'll have a look on there too.

Shoota, not so much picking up these days, Mr P does a bit of shooting though. In fact we were both out in the freezing rain this evening waiting for ducks to come past... Who says romance is dead...
Nothing nicer than a roast wild mallard..... :-)

Well, we had a fry up for tea tonight, so that shows how successful our outing was!
Sorry to be a spoilsport, but coats are not a good idea (according to vets and a lot of owners). Had working gundogs myself and they are fine if their coats are properly dried-off and bedding etc. dry. Some vets have said that it is actually damaging to put a coat on them. Unless a dog of mine had skin problems (can happen) I would not use a coat.

Our dog is still quite young, only 6 months old. She lives in the house, and is currently only going on the odd duck shoot for a few hours. We're really just looking for something to keep her warm for a short period. We've heard good reports about neoprene vests.
2sp - do you actually shoot/kill ducks.
Question Author
I've only been out shooting ducks a couple of times, didn't fire a shot on either occasion.

Mr P shoots, anything he kills we eat.
2sp I thought you were an animal lover. Don't know how you can kill them as they are such harmless birds.
Last year, I saw a poor dog dressed in a Santa coat with reindeer antlers on his head. Poor little devil. He looked thoroughly miserable. His street cred was shot to bits with his butch pals. Reminded me of Eddie in Frasier.
Don't mind that Janbee - but don't understand unnecessary killing

JJ, it seems you like Chicken

they are such harmless birds.
JJ, how is eating what you've bagged unnecessary killing?
Baldric - that's right but it seems so different.

What about eating your dog in Vietnam - a real delicatessen I believe.

Is that somewhere you really want to go JJ?
Friend is just back from there. No I won't be going.

So anyone who eats meat cannot be an animal lover?? Where is the difference between eating meat that someone else has killed and butchered and eating meat you have shot yourself?
