I love my dog dearly, but I would never dream of buying him xmas presents, birthday presents, nor would I ever send a card with his name on it to anyone. he's a dog :)

Our catz send cards, with our tongues firmly in our cheeks - they send to my mother in law.
With you anne.
Question Author
does she send them cards ?
-- answer removed --
My cards say that they're from my cat (with a picture of her on the front) and then 'also from the human underling, Chris' in very small letters.

You need to remember that, with dogs, you're the pack leader. With a cat you have to be totally subservient if the relationship is to succeed ;-)

( I know im going to regret this ) what did you buy your chickens scrivens ?
Here's what every chicken wants as a prezzie ;-)

She usually buys them a present, anne - a toy or some biscuits.
My dopey daughter has wrapped two pigs ears for the dog, she thought I'd let her put them under the tree today!

rocky,LOL
Lol reading this, my friend turned up today bearing a gift from her dog to mine, tongue in cheek I must add, but I'm planning on wrapping a bonio in return.
I always think it is a very good sign to see this! (I'd cry halt at giving a dog a qualification though (a Doctorate).
my dog not only gets birthday and Christmas presents they are wrapped up and he knows how to unwrap them himself - he also sends cards and gives people presents from him - people also buy him Christmas presents and send Christmas cards to me and him. The local chip shop know that when I buy a sausage it is for him and they cut it up for him so it is small enough for him to eat - he's a yorkie and not at all spoilt!
I can still remember years ago getting a Christmas card through the door from one of my neighbours, that had written on it:- "From our dog, To your cat" I never did find out who sent it but it always makes me chuckle when I think about it.

I don't think there's anything wrong in buying presents for your pets. They are, after all, part of the family and should be treated as such.

Our cats have sent me a Card - it's hung up with the rest of the "family" cards haven't sent them one this year.......doubt they'll notice (they are having Dreamies put under the tree for them!
My cats are cats but they are also fascinating animals. They got a stocking each from my brother which contains Kitty dope (catnip). I bought them each a heat mat for their beds.

But I fully accept that not everybody sees their animal friends as being the same as other family members. My brother has been known to say something along the line of "they are just fekkin cats"

I love dogs - what type of hound do you have anne? I have had two hounds in my life and they were handsome boys. Bullmastiff/GSD from a puppy and Labrador/GSD from the age of 5.
Its like the post Just a dog.

If it breathes, then it has feelings and emotions as we do.
Where does it say you have to be human to have birthday or christnas gifts.

I wouldn't send cards but I add a paw print to friends who have a dog or cat
i'm with you, i buy murph treats but that's it. i also find it freaky when people call themselves mum and dad to their pets, that's just weird
If other family members are getting treats, why shouldn't your dog?
I bought Colin cat some treats. my daughter wrapped them and put them under the tree.

but I'm not under the impression that he's my child!
