Never owned a cat, but am 2 cat sitting for family this week.

Today is has pelted down with rain nearly all day and one cat has been in and out many times. Each time he comes home he is drenched. A quick rub down and a bite to eat and he's off again.

He's out now and for all my shaking his treats at the door and calling him he is nowhere to be seen.

He will go out the cat flap but not come in through it since another cat attacked him when he was getting in.

He is a big boy with a thick coat but I am wondering if the wet will harm him. Do cats get colds?

I don't like to go to bed leaving him out all night. Looks like its going to be a late one.

Here puss puss....

He'll be fine.

If he gets too wet, he'll find somewhere to hole up until the morning.
Cats are fickle creatures, that's why I love them. He will come home when he is good and ready.
In the middle of the night you'll hear him meowing outside the door. That would be the best sound you've heard in a while as it'll indicate the puss has come home.
Bit like waiting up for the teenager to come in from clubbing. lol lol
Even though he doesn't like the flap he does know it's there if he gets desperate to get back in so don't worry hell be fine.
Watch that he doesn't bring his mates home with him !, party time lol.
Colds are not caught by getting wet but by a virus, cat will be fine
He's probably found a lady friend somewhere, he should be Ok. Cats usually find somewhere to hole up until it's safe to come home. If he is really hungry he'll use the catflap.

Thanks for replying.

I thought the same Fusion5.

The little one has now been in and out 3 times in half hour and soaked again. Parading all over the kitchen floor so I had to mop the floor...then wants to sit on my lap.

Think she is missing her Mum.

One of our cats goes missing for days at a time. Next door's cat spends more time in our house than theirs! He'll be back when he's ready (or hungry!).
Hope she came in cupotee, must admit I would never be able to go to bed if one of my cats was out at night. At first I admired B00's common sense but then I thought hang on, hers is a house cat :-)

Thanks for the messages last evening/night. I had an horrendous night kept getting up to see if he was about.

At 5 am I could see the street lights were back on so ventured down again to look out for the little devil. Still no sign so I made myself a cuppa before going back to bed totally shattered.

My husband got up at 7am to find him on the doorstep.

Tonight I won't worry now I know he will come home sooner or later.
