I allowed my 8 month old female kitten to go into the back garden earlier today.

We now have a large male cat looking/waiting for my female kitten.

I am now worried that if we let her out again, she may get attacked by this male cat.

Is it best just to keep her in now?

There isn't a 'right' answer. At some point in the future they are going to meet and either be friends or beat each other up. Keep her in tonight - and let her decide whether she wants to go our or is too afraid to do so. My lady cat beats her brother up - she is quite impressive - but size wise they are evenly matched. This is my cat bible...

Well is she spayed?

Of course, I would never allow her to go out without being spayed.

I agree with wolf...and I'd keep her in every night,as nightime is when cats are most vulnerable around cars.
It must be late. I thought you were showing us a pic of your cat Bible!! Not pronounced as in B-eye-ble, Wolf63. Ho ho.
Cats make friends as well. My cat was great buddies with the cat next door.
Don't worry, she's going to have to meet blokes at some point - as long as she'd been spayed, she'll be OK. You'd be surprised how cats stand up for themselves....

Have you got a catflap so she can get back in if she wants to?
A bit like a "just bought my child his first bike but when can I let him out on the road" situation.

Hi all. Thanks for all of your helpful answers.

No, Box, we don't have a catflap for her.
At least she's spayed. My neighbour has just started letting her girl kitten outside and judging by the wailing from another neighbours fat male all night, all week, I'm guessing the little girl isn't spayed.

OMG!! Hi Bushbabe...my kitten is identical to that of your avatar.

Thanks all for your answers x
it's that time of year when kitties are in the mood for lovin' - and the tom has followed yur kitty or her scent to your back door. i had a ginger tom sat in my garden doing the same a few days ago.....he had the misfortune of having all 3 of my ladies going out at 8am (while he was sat there), who promptly beat him to a pulp! you can keep yours in for a few days if you want - she will be no worse off for it, or let her out to sort her own battles out, either is fine....she will encounter other cats anyway. much will depend on the character of your cat - if she is timid i would keep her in, or if she is desperate to go out i would let her out. good luck with whatever you decide x
Tom cats can be aggressive and hurt younger cats. Keep her in unless you want her tohave kittens although 8 months old is really too young. If the Tom upsets or scares her then keep her in whenever he is around. Find out who the Tom belongs to and see if they will get him neutered.
The she cat is spayed pootler, see the earlier posts.
8 months isn't too young for a cat to have kittens pootler.
Ah we have kitty twins! Although mine is now one year old she is still very small, cute and kitten-like. We'll be keeping her indoors as there are a lot of aggressive bigger cats round here, not to mention foxes. No-one's getting to my baby lol
Cats are territorial creatures and as she gets older she will find her place in the local cat hierarchy. It may be that she ends up beating the living daylights out of the big boy. They'll sort it out between themselves eventually. But for the mean time, keeping her in at might would be a good idea.
at night, I mean. Sorry
