Try looking in the ad section of the local newspapers - sometimes people are desperately trying to get rid of accidental puppies and they often advertise in the paper (at least, they do around where I live!)
Christie, if you go to a vet's surgery or vets'  surgery (I'm still practising my apostrophes jno!) they willl be able to help you or have ads on their notice board.
Sorry, I spelt your name wrongly Christy. Hope you find one soon.

hi its me ............... magnum settled well. found a litter for you in west yorkshire cross bred labrador x border terrier. ready 23rd june, 1 dog 4 bitches available  cost listed on site E PUPZ CO.UK , NO INJECTIONS , if have a look at listings they have a picture of the pup too.(very cute !) good luck X

If you are not looking for a pedigree dog then, having 50 years experience of dogs, I would advise an adult dog from a rescue centre.  They are all thoroughly assessed so you know before hand what type of character they have.  Cross-bred puppies can be a bit of a lottery with regard to character.  Adult dogs also come house trained, which would keep Mum happy, and tend not to chew the furniture, shoes, etc, like puppies do.  Before you get your dog however I would strongly advise that you buy, or borrow from the library, a book about dog behaviour.  They are pack animals and if you and your family don't give out the right 'messages' you could end up with a 'problem dog'.
