Moths and their food

Simple, if ignorant, but we read of what caterpillars of butterflies, in particular, have as food plants, but what do adult moths eat? And do they have specific food plants as caterpillars?

In addition, some plants that are not attractive to other pollinators are so reliant on moths for that if that moth species was to become extinct the plant would eventually die out too.
