Vetuste, you'll be twice rewarded. Initially you'll know you've done a good deed, and such actions don't go unnoticed 'upstairs'.

Dave, I had a look at horse world and saw the retired police horse. I would imagine that the police force would have some obligation to care for him in his older years. I hope that he gets some sort of pension. It would help the charity if he did.
Wolf63, I believe the Household Cavalry reward their old warhorses at the end of their service with a quick trip to the knackers yard.
I'm not sure the police would be much different.
Probably too late now as you said the first 5 and im late, as usual, lol. However I'll still recommend these guys, brilliant organistation. I used to volunteer there on weekends when I was a teen.

Boo, not too late: two of the recommendations, as it turned out, were for the same charity. So I'll put a few quid in the way of your guys.
Definitely agree with World Horse Welfare. They do brilliant work in this country and abroad, not just rescue and rehabilitation but also education and research.
