I am a bit worried that you say that a 4x4 crate would be too big. Standard poodles are big dogs and will need room to stand, sit, lie and change position, especially if you intend to leave them in there for any length of time. I use a crate for my dog in the car, but wouldn't consider using one for an adult dog in the house, although I can understand that they do make a safe refuge for a puppy. Honestly I am not being judgemental, just concerned....

Woofgang , just to reassure my adult dog has the run of the house and i am at home all day , the idea is only to use the crate for time out purposes with the pup, the crate i have at the mo is 42 inches for the pup to grow into but this leaves wasted space along side crate that could be used for a bigger cage instead of just a blanket for the older dog to lie on my thoughts were to use the space to full potential where pup and adult dog could go in together or side by side , by the time pup fully grown, housebroken and trained torespect house rules the crate would nolonger be required and they would sleep anywhere they wished together only while pup small will crate be used.i do appreciate your concern

Thanks callisto, I hope you didn't mind, this company make to measure, any shape or size but they are not cheap for a temporary arrangement.
