Has anyone else noticed the Blue tits and Great tits have disappeared from the bird feeders this week since the bitter weather of the past few days? Have the recent night-time sub zero temperatures killed them? I feel so sad. I have plenty of sunflower hearts, peanuts and seed out for them. Please help.

Plenty of Food along with fresh water every day should bring them flocking to your feeders in the Icy weather
Still got them here in N Yorks. Blue, great and coal tits. Also bullfinches finishing off the berries on our shrubs. Lovely coloured birds.
I saw a couple this morning. If yours have succumbed to the weather then it's sad but there's not much anyone can do.

Thankyou all. Food and water is out there for them. Will keep my fingers crossed.

not matter how hard i try there is nothing like the amount that was around last year, great/longtailed or blue..
My goldfinches have disappeared since the cold weather. All other birds don't seem to have declined. I have gained a lovely big fat pheasant and two moorhens.

Again, thankyou all for your comments especially AB Editor putting me in the right direction for Bird Watchers. Have to admit I did not know there was a site for us Twitchers!
Not noticed any decline in the number of goldfinches and blackbirds flocking to my bird table and feeders this week........... they eat us out of house and home and cost more to feed than me and the old man!
I agree Ann86, it`s a right drain on our pensions trying to keep our feathered friends going strong in the winter, it`s these TV nature films that make us spend out. I still get goldfinches, and blue tits calling, and those bloo** squirrels don't help either....thieving little tree rat's.
