I've found silverfish in front of my coal fire a few mornings lately, I thought they liked damp moist places , why my fireplace ?? How do i get rid of them??

Are you sure they're not Firebrats? Same family and similar looking to Silverfish but prefer higher/warmer conditions rather than moist/damp:
