BF has said that betfred (a gambling website) has blocked his account because he has to prove who he is (money laundering I assume) ironically it's because he has won if you lose they keep you account open and let you continue to lose but when you win they stop you taking the money off lol.

Anyway they have asked for all the paperwork emailing through, including his debit card scanned back and front. In the past when I have been asked for this from similar compaines they say to make sure some numbers are not showing on the card this stops people using the card form the copy/scan, I asked him to check and yet again they said a scan of the whole card front and back including the security number on the back the CV something what ever it is.

Does this sound right to you. I told my BF he needs to check fully, he is beleiving them and saying if there was to be money stolen it would be there responsibility but I would rather not go there in the first place.

Any help please

Thanks

There must be a more secure way for companies to get this information. Never give out the 3 numbers on the back of a card. this opens you up to any number of fraudulent actions. I would have thought that a driving license with a picture would be adequate. I would suggest he rings the local citizens advice about this.
I think in his shoes my first question would be to the bank for advice.
The gambling site I use pays up promptly. I've a suspicion that your BF has come across a fake site.
They accepted his card details when he was sending them his original stake. If I was him I wouldn't give them any further opportunity to see his card details.
Surely they've got his card details already? You have to supply them when you open the account.
Tell him to go into his nearest BetFred Office and make some enquiries about his account there. It's always dodgy disclosing too much info on line or over the Phone

its because this is the card used to deposit they say they need it

if we delete the cvc number what other part should we delete? I remeber deleting another part in the past like the last 4 digits of the account number or something, does someone know which is best for security?
Why do they not already have the required details, when your boyfriend mae a deposit to start playing? And why would they need scans and stuff. No one else seems to need this. Normal details are all a commercial concern needs to prove validity.

maybe it's to prove the card is in your possesion as apposed to cloned or via stolen details online, if someone hacked my system and got the details they could deposit without actually having the card?
Have they actualy stopped his account?

Ring them do not provide the information - Offer to take it into a bet fred shop.

from another gambling site and worthy to note for anyone in the same position in the future:

In order to make the sending of the documents more secure we recommend that you send them in separate emails. With regards to credit cards, please send copies of the front and back separately and we also suggest that you block out the CVV number at the back of the card as well as the middle eight digits on the front of the card. Once received, our members’ documents are digitally stored in a secure environment, which is accessible exclusively to specific specialized security agents.
