Hi All,

I'm really hoping you will be able to help me, my 15 week old rottweiler puppy had 2 seizures yesterday the first one lasted about 4 mins and the second maybe 1 min or 2. ofter each seizure she went back to her normal self eating and drinking fine. took her to the vets and her temperature is normal, breathing normal, heart beat normal, reflexes normal. she has not had any since yesterday morning and is full of energy like a puppy should. the vet has taken some blood samples for further testing that should be back tomorrow. does anyone have any idea what this could be?

Many thanks in advance

have you spoken to your breeder?

good advice from Divegirl there - follow it
could be anything, I'd wait for the bloodtests and if it is something major speak to the breeder because chances are it's heredity. I known some breeds are prone to epilepsy, not sure about rotties tho. if it is and you keep it it will be ok but will have to be on medication for life - I hope you're already insured!
Could also be a reaction to vaccination. This is a useful site with links to other sites:

Hi All, Tara had her last vaccination 5 weeks ago so unsure if that could be the cause, I have spoken to the Breeder and there are no known hereditors issues. all the blood tests have come back normal and they are just waiting for the liver stint test to come back.

It has now been 48 hours since her seizure.
some dogs have one episode and never another their whole life

Hi All,

Tara is back to normal now and has not had any more fits since the 2 little ones she had on monday, the last blood test came back clear so the vet is unsure as to the cause. one thing we have thought of is we have a laburnum tree in the garden and i did not realise this was a poisonous. the tree may not have been the cause but we are having the tree removed next week.
