meet the kitten..

lucy has gone up to the new kitten and is making a sort of low growling type noise i havent hurd it before, has anybody any idea wot it happening?? no hissing or anything, just that deep noise??? the kitten dont appear to be bothard?? lucy is 10yrs

I take it Lucy is also a cat, and that the kitten isn't hers?

If that's the case, then she's making you and the newcomer aware that she's not happy about the new arrival. How have you introduced them? Did you familiarise them to each others smells for a few days before actually allowing them to meet face-to-face?
Lucy sounds a bit pished off lol
The kitten will not be bothered as kittens want to play.
Make sure you supervise them at all times and when you are not there seperate them in different rooms.
Given time they will find there pecking order.
cats do not like water usually......try spraying the aggressor with a little water.......that should cool him off. It,s worth a try.
