My mums 8 month old Lhasa Apso puppy has been getting sick once in the morning and maybe later on in the evening, then last night she had a bit of diarrhoea.

She is great within herself, running round like a mad thing! But this is starting to worry me.

My mum changed her dog food recently and we are thinking it is too heavy for her, but would that give her diarrhoea? She has 3 meals a day and then a chewy bone to play with during the day.

She loves digging up the garden and I was thinking could she have swallowed a small stone or something.

If it carries on, obviously off to the vets, but just wondered if anyone could advise me!

Thanks xx

If this has been going on for more than a couple of days I'd get her straight to the vet. She could be getting dehdrated which is dangerous. Changing a puppys diet should be done gradually over the course of a week so as not to cause digestive upset. If it was changed suddenly then it could cause diarrhoea. If the food was making her sick then she would probably vomit straight after her meal. Either way I'd still get her to a vet.

Thanks for the advice rattyratgirl...I've just made an appointment at the vets tonight. x
I'm sure it's nothing serious but it's always better to be safe than sorry where our precious furry friends are concerned.

I really hope its not serious...I'm dreading going the vets...she is just so precious to us all...thanks xx
But if she is so precious then surely you want her made better as soon as possible? Your vet should be your dog's best friend. Pups can go downhill very quickly with sickness and diarrhoea and dehydration is a real possibility. Change of food is probably the cause but its better to be safe than sorry.
Would also say that at eight months I would drop her to two meals a day, using good quality food that is easy to digest.
