Now re-cycling has reached the wilds of Anglesey can anyone work out if it helps the environment as my wife, (as I am sure many others do) insists on using at least half a gallon of hot water every day so contributing to the carbon emmisions by thoroughly washing all the bottles, cans and plastic containers that we put in the re-cycling box.

Surely before these items are proccessed the recycling depot does this aswell.

Why don't the government slap a large tax on packaging. This would make companies think about the packaging they use as they would not want their goods to be too expensive and therefore uncompetitive. Seems obvious to me.
