I thought the Go Compare ads were annoying. They are just that but that's all they are.
But The Halifax radio station has got to be taking the p*ss.
Do they really think that bunch will attract people to come into Halifax?
I had to watch it 5 times to check just how jaw droppingly bad it is.
Not one person in there is likeable in any way.
I would like to think it's just taking the micheal but it's not even good enough for that.
Bring back the singing guy with the glasses. He was bad but not that bad.
It's like some disturbing commercial version of the Office.
Sorry i sound like I have to much time on my hands but I'm laid up in bed so it's the TV or here for me.

Probably from the latest batch of new advertising graduates who think they are being post-ironic or some nonsense term that they reckon makes them better than what has gone before.
That one that really annoys me at the moment is the Direct Gov advert, how much money did it cost us to pay all the famous faces to tell about a government website that nobody will use?
I think Jools is cute!!

The one that gets me at the mo is the McDonalds one saying a "bob" is a pound. How daft that no-one noticed before it went out.
We Buy Any Car ..... We Buy Any Car ... We Buy Any Car .... have you seen it/heard it? AWFUL !

Lmao yea that we buy any car is just plain funny. You can see who it's aimed at. If you make it simple to remember the local car thieves will know where to take their haul to sell.
I have used the direct gov site for one or two things. But I used to work for the CAB so I knew where it was any way.
But the Halifax ad wins the gringe worthy award this year and we're only in January.
Myriad2112:
I've answered around 15,000 'serious' questions here on AB. Several hundred of my posts (on subjects as diverse as benefit entitlements, employment rights and hedge disputes) have included links to the relevant pages of the DirectGov website, so perhaps more people do need to be told about it? (Even so, I think that the ads would be more effective if they actually hinted at the actual contents of the website, rather than just saying that it exists).

My pet hates:
Certainly that damned 'Halifax Breakfast Show' ad. (I've done some relief studio presentation work for BBC local radio. I sincerely hope that none of my broadcasts were as bad as that one!).

Also any ad for anything that begins with '118'. (It doesn't matter whether it's '118 118', '118 247' or anything else. They're all equallly annoying).

GoCompare's opera singer drives me nuts.

I'm pleased that Postdog is equally irritated by McDonald's incorrect reference to a 'bob'.

I agree with Smurfchops,as well, about 'We buy any car'.

Chris
.... and they would have saved a fortune by not using so many celebs!!

Yea I hate celeb ads. The Christmas M&S ads were really bad.
Maybe if they hadn't have spent so much on Mr Fry and the rest of the lovies their profits might not have been so bad.
Most of the people I saw in the CAB had never heard of the Direct Gov ad. But they certainly about it by the time we'd finished with them.
The Halifax one is breathtakingly dreadful, can you begin to understand the mentality of the people who put these things together and really, truly believe we will think they're good? Yes, the reference to a £ being a bob on The McD ad is very strange, surely someone knew this was wrong? Another one that drives me nuts is that woman joining her friends at a table and telling them all about her hard uncomfortable "bowel stuff"!!
Just have to add all the sofa adverts to the "drive me mad" list. They are on constantly and I am sick of them. Most of the wretched sofas are ghastly too! I agree about the Halifax ad - it has put me off Halifax completely ( if only I had money to save!)
its bad but whats the one i think for a bank with skinny legged people and the oprea woman singing la la la la la la la la la la la la .......its annoying
They make these irittating so that you'll remember the product name....it worked!
Remember The Crazy Frog?
Do what I do - watch BBC 1 and 2...
No adverts on there!
and my pet hate is "because you're worth it..."
I wouldnt say that the BBC is Advert Free.
But it got your attention, and thats its purpose !
The mobile phone one (can't remember the company) where the annoying Aussie woman says, "if I ruled the world..............hi, how are ya?" YUK!
...Moira Stewart preaching to us that "tax doesn't have to be taxing", that gets right on my t!t-ends.
