I've been told that Volkswagen tv ads have a tradition of being ironic. If this is true... I could do with finding out more! Does anybody know anything, or know where I could find anything?? Thanks in advance.

Of those I can think of....

1) Jetta advert, where car washers, toll booths, ferry ticket offices etc put their prices up thinking the Jetta driver is loaded.

2) Passat advert, where the kid expects his front door to open automatically after witnessing the techy gizmo's in the car.

3) The Golf advert that shows GTi models crying because their owners have had naff modifications to them.

4) The Golf advert representing Golf's through the ages showing the designers and their fashions changing over the years.

5) The VW van ads where the owners are reversing over tents, spraying everyone with pressure washers and giving them as gifts to their kids.

6) The Polo ad with the Guardian angel finding a polo driver to protect 'cos everyone else is taken.

A definite humour slant, but I don't think irony is a particular theme.

Ironic or iconic?
