mixed-race couples in adverts? Is it because they're trying to show they're racially tolerant, displaying they're agreeing with current philosophies or merely saying 'it's ok to have mixed-race couples'? If it's for any of these reasons I'm ashamed and disgusted.

Why?

BECAUSE IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN.

It is not only live actors, mixed race couples are shown in cartoon versions as well. Interesting to note however the mixed face couples are mainly formed with a white wife and a black father, does this send the message that women are less racist than men? Why does it always have to be black and white, why not white and Asian or white and Chinese, come to that why do...

It's probably because if they show a single-race couple lots of people will be offended on their behalf.
It's not a new thing, I noticed it a few years ago.
why are most men in adverts depicted with beards? that's incredibly shaver-ist if you ask me.
dont get me started on men in adverts. They are always shown as inept buffoons. Which we all know isn't correct ...
Perhaps, just perhaps, these adverts reflect modern life?

They are there to sell product. Sell product sell product. They are pay as you go actors. £50,000 a go. And for the advertising agency to advertise to future clients and rivals that they are MORE politically correct MORE liberal and MORE tolerant and MORE deserving of future business and LOADS and LOADS of money. It is a perfect little world that does not need you.
demographics are researched before a campaign... who knows..what one likes ...?
It's just a simple mechanism to show the product advertised is meant for everyone
It's true, any advert at all that comes through Spotlight (actors portal where such things are advertised) will have a cast with racial, gender and age restrictions placed on the characters which between them all cover pretty much a catch all of British society- and as you can be paid a lot of money as a featured role in an advert, it's simple economics ( also time costs with adverts obviously) to have a mixed race couple rather than 2 x whole families, unless it's plotline necessary. It's done for financial reasons, to show inclusion and for time constraint reasons and to sell their product. Nothing sinister about any of it.
Its simple. Ads which depict people need to depict all the people they want to sell to.
It's done to keep Lenny Henry quiet.
I, too, am OK with the idea of mixed-race couples as long as I never actually see any.
Jim ? you live in Edinburgh ? how can you avoid ?
For what it's worth; there wasn't a single mixed race couple in my village in England, nor is there one here in my village now, and when I think about it I've only personally known 2 or 3 in my life.
So to depicting them like this is unbalanced.
Depends where you live Kendro, got to London and they are everywhere. There are quite a few in our small county town in Herefordshire for that matter, so they are scarcely rare out in the sticks either.
I'm from Hereford myself. Can't say I've noticed many mixed-race couples. I used to have a Japanese lady work for me whose husband is English but I can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Where I live now is one of the most culturally diverse places in the UK but I still can't think of any mixed race couples I know round here.
There are many Irish/Scots partnerships around here.
They're called Micked race couples.
^^^^^^
Douglas. Hahaha!.....
We're by Ludlow, and I can think of three or four what appear to be mixed race couples I see regularly around town, but then Ludlow is a bit arty and lots of outlanders buy here from London ( like us :). Hereford has plenty of cultural diversity now NoM- how long ago were you here?
