On TV now, Inside Out for our region, is asking whether it is a gem of the south coast or a terrible eyesore?

Bloody hideous, and scary looking - last time I saw it I could swear it was swaying about in the wind.

Oh piddle.....Thanks Mamya x

Thanks for that, AP :-)
Gem. They said that the London Eye was an eyesore and now it is an iconic part of London
I think it looks great but not living near have no first hand experience of course.

Our JoggerJayne has though...

//Yes, I've been up the i360. It's much better than I expected. The security getting on to it is really tight, of course. There's a Nyetimber bar inside the pod, so you can have a glass of fizz while you're up there. £10 for a little plastic glass, but you feel sort of obliged to indulge. It's definitely worth going up, even though I was quite sceptical about it while it was being built. x//

Hasn't been on yet.... When it does, will let you know what the people in the south think of it.
Question Author
I like it too, Mamya, agree with JJ.....Looks lovely glistening in the sunshine from Brighton pier.
Question Author
Stunning views.... Been on area times now, with family and friends, and a couple of clients.
I like the idea that profit from it might go towards re-building the old pier though.
While Brighton has some places which are individually attractive (such as the Pavilion or the Van Alen Building), it's never had a particularly attractive seafront. (It's a mix of the good, the bad and the downright ugly). So the i360 can't possibly do it any harm.

Rhyl got there first though!

Very true, 23

Mixed opinions...Experts split on whether it should have been built and some just love it and the views too, which you have to experience..... Queue's are long all throughout the day.
It`s different in the country but in towns the skyline is always evolving. You only have to look towards London from Vauxhall/Waterloo to see that - it has changed so much. I think there is something depressing about Victorian seaside towns in this country so if something glitzy such as the i360 comes along to liven it up then that can`t be a bad thing.

The West pier is a big part of Brighton's history....Think it looks great, but love to see it restored to it's full glory.

Agree with that, Chris
Question Author
Agreed too, 23....Good point, and the London skyline has changed so much in the past four decades. Looks stunning, again, from The Eye.
The London skyline has changed so much in the last 14 months, never mind 4 decades. My Mum wouldn`t even recognise it now. At least Soho is a protected area so they can`t knock that down and build skyscrapers.

I love going to Soho, 23.... it's got so much character and atmosphere.....used to play at Billy's nightclub there, and Le Beat Route in Greek Street too.
Across the road was Groove Records, where I used to pick up brand new weekly imports, fresh from the U.S and other countries, also UK released records, and white label promo's some from record companies.

Happy memories :-)
Question Author
Just been chatting to some London, Surrey,, Brighton and surrounding area friends on FB and Twitter...... Opinion is they like it, great views, not an eyesore and can only be good for Brighton's future :-)
