Okay folks, its time to lay this one to rest... In response to the last answer posted, what a load of poop! Franco Zeffirelli is an 83 year old film director and set designer! This advert was directed by Paul Weiland. Here are the full details which are available from visit4info.com (great site for adverts!):

Sorry if this is a waste of time for you, but I was wondering if there is
any way I can get a copy of the script to the "Little Dads" advert for the
Vauxhall Zafira? Or at least confirmation of the wording? It is for a petty
reason... I have an ongoing dispute with some people about the wording used
by the kids at the end of the advert. (Overtired/Oh they're tired) which I'm
sure you'll agree is definitely petty but needs resolving!!
Any help or advice on how to go about getting this information would be much
appreciated! I have checked your website out and think that your firm makes
some seriously groovy adverts!

Don't know why the answer was so short but never mind, it was a response...
In addition to all this mounting evidence it made it to the national press (Daily Express 18/02/2006):
Q: On the Vauxhall Zafira advert, the parents drop a box of crockery and three lads then say, "Oh, the _ _ _ _", but no one in our house can make out the missing word. Can you help? Derek Rudd, Walsall
A: According to Vauxhall, it's not "Oh the (something)", it's just the single word "overtired".
Anyone who wants a copy of this clipping in .doc format please leave email address and I will send it, also please feel free to email the companies involved with this advert and ask for confirmation...So, in conclusion, I'm right and you're wrong! Ner ner ner ner ner! I realise that the previous post referring to the iamcal.com post was probably a joke but I object to being called a soft southerner just for being right!
I have about 20 mins ago rang Vauxhall customer care line and spoke to Graham and he told me that the kids actually say 'overtired'. I know, i know, I was gutted too, as it has put an end to the long-running argument in our house and the boys won't stop having a go at me! sorry to all who thought like me, but we were wrong!
It is my view that there are one of two potential problems here.
If the phrase used it 'Overtired', it is incorrect as it is not a qualified statement. To use this popular (in some parts) word, the sentence should be 'Oh, THEY'RE overtired', and the script writers are at fault for including a sentence which does not make sense, and therefore would not be used in normal English. Afterall, it is 'normal' English that the writers are trying to portray.
If, however, the phrase is intended to be 'Oh, they're tired', then the young actors should have been told to pronounce it properly, as their accents do not require them to pronounce 'they're' as 'ver'.
In my view, it certainly sounds as though what is actually said is 'Oh, ver tired', which could indeed be intended to be either of these two alternatives. I am beginning to wonder whether the real intention of the advertisers was to provoke this kind of discussion. Certainly, I have discussed Vauxhall Zafiras much, much more recently than I would otherwise have done.

I'm very relieved that others take this issue so passionately. Quite clearly though it is 'over tired'. the reason for this is that if they said 'oh, they're tired' this would just be an observation and therefore not very funny. However,'over-tired' is an adult saying that doesn't really mean much and is particularly used to wind kids up by their parents. Therefore, this is why they say it and why it is funny. Please someone find the script and post it to prove me right so that I can win a tenner off my husband!!!!

Overtired !!! Is it just me or does the sentence "overtired" not make any sense . If it was "They`re overtired" or "oh they`re tired" I could understand. Maybe this is due to different interpretations of the english language but I wish someone would give a straight honest answer because you would`nt believe the cold shoulder i`m getting at the moment ... tee hee
Please read the rest of this post before asking silly questions... It has been answered several times by vauxhall themselves as well as the advertising company. If you don't believe the peple who have been bothered to contact them, try it yourself!
As for it making sense... It makes perfect sense for 3 people to think and say the same, obvious thing and exchange 'knowing' looks.

I'm sooo glad this has been sorted. It was imediately obvious to me exactly what was said but the Merch kept piping up with its "oh they're tired." As if they were expressing suprise at the fatigued state of their Parent/kids rather than sharing a knowing understanding of what happens when the kids get over wrought.
Then get this he got tim peach on his side who could do nothing more than pull his *** face and nod like a dog when Merch prompted. Basically thank god for lozz is what I say. He's got ears and a brain that work. These others are rubbish.
