Location of AB Users

Along with smudge I have asked a couple of times whether it would be possible to have some indication of the location of AB users. For example, it's difficult to answer gardening questions when there's no clue to the climate, & there are many other instances where it would save time I'm sure.  Just the country would be enough, next to the user name maybe? Please?

Hi Robinia - Happy Sunday! As you know, I've asked the same question so many times before, but the AB Ed said they don't intend to go forward with that idea.

If you do a category search on Suggestions - Country of Origin, you will see the mixed reactions from my last request. Never mind :o{

smudge, had you asked since the new AB Ed came in?  He/she is doing a good job of reassessing old, previously rejected suggestions such as a Chat Room.

This was a good idea when you first suggested it and it still is. How about an "opt-in" approach to allow an ABer to withhold his/her country or to include the county/state/d�partment/canton if desired?  Towns would be too specific, perhaps.

Thanks Marsh - just took a look back on Category Search & found that I'd made references to the Country of Origin requests on:

22.09.04 - 15.10.04 - 20.01.05 - 22.01.05 - 25.02.05

Not sure when the new Ed evenually took over, but hope they think about it in the near future. :o}

I can only add my own agreement.It would be nice(and useful) to know just where someone lives.

I was giving advice to someone recently(assuming them to be in the UK) and they were all the time in Brazil! LOL

I was just about to post the same suggestion.

It is interesting that several times in the last couple of years the AB Editor (bow to the Ed) has agreed this is an excellent idea and will be considered.
