How Gravatar Works

16:37 Mon 24th May 2010 |

Gravatars are Globally Recognised Avatars. This is an Avatar which is connected to your email address which you carry around the internet. Any page you log into or sign up with this email address will display your Gravatar as an Avatar, assuming the website you have signed up for is compatible.

Here is a video from the Gravatar website to show you what they’re all about:

The AnswerBank is now using Gravatar to supply Avatars for all you lovely people, but there are a few things you might need to know before you sign up.

  • You must use the same email address you signed up to The AnswerBank with.
  • No nudity or obscenity – this will result in a permanent ban
  • If you already have a Gravatar – don’t worry, we won’t automatically import it. You must click the tick box found under My Profile > Edit User Details to connect with Gravatar.com.
  • If you have forgotten the email address you signed up to The AnswerBank with please visit your profile and click through to "Edit User Details". Once you're here you can replace your email address with your current one, once you're done, scroll down and click "save"
  • You should be all set!
