other: allow moderators to only delete spam or blatant racist/homophobic etc posts. I've always found forums that treat members like adults usually find the members act like adults.

The upvote is a bad idea for the reasons already given, emojis could work well, as could the ability to upload images more easily. JimF’s idea at 17.04 would create havoc.

I would still like to see ‘Politics’ as a main category, leaving ‘News’ free for news.

only ability to modify and then only up to say 5 minutes. We can already supply pictures etc via links. Not sure what is meant by "upvote" are you talking about people on the thread voting for BA? Could be divisive.

Jim, People would throw insults, upset others, and then remove all evidence -leaving the thread making no sense and themselves apparently squeaky clean. Some of the mods have done it in the past.

I have never understood why people need an edit function. What is wrong with reading what you've written and edit it if necessary before submitting?

I agree with this in areas such as law (the only area on which I can comment with any knowledge). BA has been given to people in the past which is the answer they like best rather than the legally correct answer. New posters may view the "best answer" and the "correct answer" as the same thing and often it is not the case.

I completely get that the section should not be used instead of legal advice, however, people do love the internet. And if I had a quid for every time I had been told that "well I did some research on the internet and this is the situation....." I wouldn't be working 15 hours a day. His Lordship G Oogle has much to answer for.

I consider that "best answer" ought to be removed in such sections. (Unless of course it is mine ;) ).

actually editing isn't necessary either, so what if some typos get in. Make it a rule no moaning about typos.
