Question About Moderation

My question is does the editorial staff review all reports, or only those that have been followed through and the post deleted or the user suspended? Surely if the staff only review those reports that have been acted on, then the system is open to abuse by moderators who will be prepared to ignore reports against their friends.
On a recent thread someone made derogatory comments about how some people report . They could only be privy to this information by being told by a moderator. What is in place to prevent moderators sharing Reports with their AB buddies?

I don't think many of those criticising the mods realise how clean they keep this site. Obviously they're not going to satisfy all the people all the time, that's life. Some of you should try an un-moderated site, they're usually pure poison, bile, and filth IME.
Why would it be you?
I’m more than happy ignoring you all the time , lol
THECORBYLOON, //Do you expect to be telt which member(s) reported a post, which Mod deleted a post or closed a thread?//

Not at all - and I didn’t say that. I said mods should be identified because secrecy engenders suspicion and that isn’t a good thing. It’s the very reason the anonymous band of secret mods are criticised.

Barry, //I have seen many posts criticising the mods and accusing them of favouritism, or trolling ABers to remove their posts without good cause.//

I agree - but it's not always without good cause - and that’s the very reason mods should be identified. Those who do abuse their position - and, make no mistake, it happens - would think twice about doing it.
Here you are: my only complaint about the site is that the swear filter is too Draconian. Some of the words filtered out are not remotely sweary and can be heard on daytime TV regularly.
More a curiosity question
Why are Mods unidentifiable?

Bobbisox -think you will have to get the Monty Python team on to that one ! lol!
Bobbi //Why are Mods unidentifiable?//
Personal choice I reckon. Some are and some aren't.
APG, I just genuinely wonder why :0/
NAOMI, I honestly cannot see how knowing who the Mods are is important.

You don't want to know which Mod removed a post but you want to know who the Mods are. How would that be of benefit if you disagree with the removal of a post?

Question Author
Me too Bobbi. Surely it would work to AB advantage. If a copper turns up on 'the street' people often start to behave themselves.
The answer may be to respond to other ABers as if they were all Mods?
OK I'll come clean, Bobbs your banned.
TCL, even if we did know who removed a post,so what?
We could hardly go after them could we? And besides it may help abuse etc knowing a ‘badged’ one was present !No?
Awww , in the slammer again APG:0/
"If a copper turns up on 'the street' people often start to behave themselves."

What if someone disagrees with a comment but the Mod does not remove it? Would there not be posts asking that Mod why it's not been removed?
But that happens anyway TCL, when we don’t know if a Mod is present or not

Bobbisox Man! divna dee that! had to check my status lol!
To summarise:

Any member (mods or otherwise) can use the report button on any post. The report goes to the Editorial team, not to the moderation team - i.e. mods do not see reports. The Editorial team is only there 9-5 Mon-Fri.

Mods can be on the site any time of the day or night, as they see fit. They can remove posts or entire threads (e.g. spammers). They can also close threads. They cannot edit posts. Any action they take is accompanied by a report so that the Editorial team can see not only what they did, but why they did it. Mods don't see reports from other mods and they don't know who other mods are.
"We could hardly go after [named Mods] could we?"

There could be plenty posts having a go at them, especially from the authors of the deleted posts.
Haha, it’s like the Secret Service then but if it ain’t broken then why fix it
