Hi Ed, as you know, I've recently returned to AB after logging off in 2011 & noticed a few changes since then. Do we still have the facility to edit before posting I wonder? Ta.

No, we don't

Thank you Naomi - I'll bear that in mind!
we couldn't edit posts in 2011 either could we?
Hey, that's classed as a welcome back really Smudge ;-)
We have always had the facility to edit BEFORE posting. After posting is more problematic.

Must be thinking of facebook, as I use that more!

Hi Mamy - could always rely on a more friendly & less sarcastic reply from you. :)
Asking for it seems to fall on deaf ears. Or invalid excuses are made :-(
There’s enough problems on here without letting people change the wording of posts when someone challenges them or points out their errors. It would be chaos.

As Naomi has said, we all have the ability to edit posts by reading & correcting them before pressing ‘answer now’.
Which is a ridiculous suggestion since everyone already tries to do that and it proves insufficient.
There's no reason why there can't be a time limit on editing posts (say 1 min for example) Our local website gives 15 mins to edit posts and after that it's too late.
Erm.....no it doesn’t.
I seem to recall a message of sorts asking if you were sure you wanted to submit - that gave you a prompt to think again.

Would slow down replies in certain sections.
Most sites I've been to don't restrict at all, but I guess one gets a different class of person here for it to be such a nightmare suggestion.
First sensible thing you’ve said OG.
Like O_G...I go on another site where editing has no time limit. That the post was edited and when is shown for all to see. No problems...everyone behaves. Are we different on here?

Yes, I do realise you can edit BEFORE posting! Anyway, thank you Mamy & Pasta, that's what I was thinking of. As on facebook, having the facility to edit after posting & that anyone could see the unedited post too, so as not too cheat or mislead.
Question Author
* not to - not not too - see what I mean? :)
Hey Smudge, as other users have already discussed, no you can't edit your posts once they have been "posted".
Sorry about that!
