I fully understand that it's the Ed's site and them's the site rules...

..just for clarity though, are there a generally agreed set of standards between various Eds and Mods about what is an acceptable posting and what isn't, and are they - more or less - evenhandedly applied?

This is probably a very naive question but do eds and mods also post under the user names
Mods are users and Ed/S post as Ed.
All mods are normal users, but most of them keep it quiet they are mods so the only people that know are the Eds and other mods.
Thank you - not that I want to but how do you become a mod - do you volunteer or are you chosen?
Chosen, you just get an email from the Ed telling you you now have a few extra options available to you.

As I was saying, before I had a post deleted last night ..

..and I'm not expecting this one to last either ;)
maybe the real Ed will read this tomorrow Sloopy :-)
You have to swear by omerta, granny grump! LOL
I agree with the other posters about people coming and going, happens over and over and while there are some still on here who were here back when I first started looking about, a while before actually posting, there have been so many names who have disappeared over the years. The site has changed and changed again and again... as it will keep on doing.

I'm not bothered who the mods are, although some have made themselves known which is their prerogative. I don't see the benefit in knowing, posters should abide by the Site Rules whether or not there is a mod around and the Ed will be able to see who zaps what and I'm sure they keep an eye.

The site is definitely much better moderated than it has been in the past.
Is that the same as a brownie's pledge Chill?
I couldn't possibly tell you that, gg..............
Ha Ha
Yes.
Am I the only one thinking that some users need to get over themselves?

What has suddenly made some users feel so important?

Face facts...you're not important and your absence is barely noticed.

That might sound mean...but it's the truth.
how dare you, i am important, very very important
the really important ones should be allowed bigger avatars so I'd know them on sight
I know you are :-) but you don't think the site would come to a stand still if you stopped posting!!
ummm, it might if you stopped posting ( that is a joke ) :)
The Ed has concisely responded, so only important ABers should continue posting in this thread.

Please continue ummmm.

Al.
There seems to be a muddying here over important and impotent.....
