Aaaagh! Not another thread! (There are loads already!).

You must be using Firefox, Chrome or Safari. Those browsers refer all of your requests for web pages to Google's security system, to check whether they host any malicious content. That system has detected that AB has been taking feeds from bit.ly which, knowingly or otherwise, has been hosting potentially malicious content.

AB's techies have spent the past few days trying to sort the problem out (because users of Norton security products were getting warnings before Google's system picked it up) so it's likely that Google's warnings are out of date anyway.

AB's team will probably get the site 'white listed' again soon, so there's almost certainly nothing to worry about.
You're doing a good job tonight, Chris! Well done.
What is happening? Mine's gone like this too ................
Well I'm getting a message as well, and I'm using IE.
Do we just ignore it Chris? I did several clean ups thinking I had a virus but reading this thread it seems it is under control and nothing to worry about?? I use Firefox.
Lol Chris, keep up the good work!
Well I'm still here, Ann! (I also use Firefox. I've just done a scan with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and it's picked up nothing nasty).
this worked on Firefox

1.click 'ignore' it will leave a red border above
2.Click black x top right of red border
I did Advanced Systemcare and it didn't pick anything up. On one of the tabs I clicked on the red line at the top of this page "This isn't an attack site" it got through to "badware" - I read about it and it suggests it is one of the adverts on the site which could be infected.
Did that Tamborine thanks and it has gone - hope it doesn't come back!
Bit of an awkward one this - it doesn't sound like it's a good idea merely to ignore these warnings. At least Answerbank, by its nature, is likely to provide info to anyone "brave" enough to go there/here :-)
I'm not going to disable the warnings from my firefox browser all the same. Just trust to luck ... :-)
I agree. Ignoring the warning might not be a good idea. Nobody on here has enought inside knowledge of what is happening to give informed advice. I`m here at my own risk and so is everyone else.
Hi johnty. I also had this today. I fixed it by clicking on TOOLS/OPTIONS/SECURITY then click Exemptions and add http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/ to it.This worked for me and no problem now. Good luck..bestdriver
That's all very well bestdriver but all that does is remove the warning, not the underlying problem (if there is one). Although these warnings may be (probably are in all honesty) unwarranted, they do come from a reputable source.
My problem with them is that they don't say where they are coming from, and they also are a gift, ironically, to virus writers, who can use imitation warnings to scare people into downloading harmful stuff under the guise of some sort of fix
-- answer removed --
...ah, should have read previous posts...
Quote bestdriver "I fixed it"

No you didn't, you just took the ostrich option.

I feel safe over-riding the warning at the moment because Google says:-
"The last time Google visited this site was on 2013-02-23, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2013-02-21."
so at the moment it would seem to be OK (but maybe we all got infected 2 days ago?) but Google hasn't yet given it a full 'all-clear'. No warning 2 days ago - Nothing like shutting the stable door . . .

I think this is going to put a lot of people off visiting AB.

what it really ought to do is put a lot of people off visiting google, that is a behemoth that needs to be reined in
I am on IE 7 and it would not let me access AB , got on via Google Chrome but only after clicking to ignore a warning that '' This site is not safe'' do not proceed
