My sleep pattern too, is very erratic. At the moment it seems to revolve around 6am. That's either when I'm going to bed or getting up.
I'm trying montmorency cherries, a new 'therapy' for insomnia. Extensive trials have shown that once asleep, they keep you asleep for a while longer. I've not been taking it for long, but it does seem to work to an extent.
I bought the cherry capsules from Amazon for £6.99. It's supposed to be a months supply, but will last me 2 months. The trials showed that one per day worked well, but taking 2 a day had no extra effect. I'm not very good at putting things into words sometimes, so I hope I've made myself clearer than mud!
I'm also drinking a 7fl oz glass of Cherry Good juice per day, which is very nice, if a little expensive. Tesco recently had it on offer, 2 for £1.50, but the offer has stopped for now. I'm sure other shops will sell it too, but it has to contain the montmorency cherries. Tesco's own has 'sour cherries', but not the montmorency, which is the active ingredient. Sorry, clear as mud again.
I hope if anyone makes proper sense of what I've said, that it's of some help. I've had insomnia for so long, I can't remember how long. Anyone who's been on Mamya's night music thread will recall me being on it, playing music till 6am!
