Problem With My Ex

This is a kind of continuation from my previous post.

I split with my ex which I took badly (yes I sent the needy texts)

Well it's a long story but he owed me money and it went through twice. I tried to refund the money but sent it to the wrong account. As soon as I realised my error I made the bank aware and also my ex. The bank are trying to retrieve the money but it can take up to 5 weeks. I told ex and he said that was fine and to just let him know when it comes through, last week he told me not to try and get it back he doesn't want it as he hates me.

Today I get a call from the police stating if I don't put the money in his account by Friday I will be arrested and charged with theft. I tried to explain but he kept cutting me off stating 'my excuses don't wash with him'. I stated I had proof as the bank sent me a letter. He asked me to email a copy to him.

I did as requested and also screen shots of my ex agreeing that he didn't mind it would take so long, and a screen shot of the payment I had made in error. He replied by saying there is no guarantee in getting it back and why should my ex be out of pocket for my mistake!

I don't think I even know what my question is.

Why the *** has my ex done this. It seems a bit routine. Whenever I stop sending the 'needy' texts and change my whatsapp profile pic from something sad to me looking happy and fabulous I seem to get a call from the police. What is he playing at?? It feels like he is playing games just as I seem to move on and cut all contact.

Sorry, I think this was more than a rant than a question but if anyone does have some advice on why my ex is being a total *** then that would be greatly appreciated.

So far I still think this is a con, all the 'ex' needs to have done is to find a genuine warrent no ( VERY easy) and put it in an email sent from an email address he gave you in the 1st place.
If this was genuine the name would be on the database when your local police checked it. Your 'ex' is likely to find himself in a lot of trouble!

How did the money go the the wrong account - was it based on info he supplied ?

I searched on the police website for the warrant number and the right name came up. I'm just awaiting a call from my local police station.

The money went into the wrong account as I paid the account that was on my internet banking but he says it's not his account.

This (I use the term loosely) 'man' needs help!! He's off his head! Wouldn't think he's 32 years old!!!!

am wondering if he's trying to get the money twice?
one minute he's prepared to wait the few weeks the next he's doing all sorts re. the police.
I'm sure he's at the madam.

If he is trying to get it twice then the bank can tell where the money went and who is the account holder. If it is him then they will know

keep a diary, char, and write it in pencil - in any legal case, this shows your musings to things going on, any erasures showing up too, so avoid those....it's good to build a record of events on the basis of time.

Sorry to go 'off piste' a bit so apols to OP but would like to ask DT xword why the advice is to write in pencil - surely if you write in ink/biro then any alterations are evident too . Appreciate I could well be being very thick here and no offence meant DT.

in the world of lawyers, pencil or biro crossed out suggests potential 'mental change,' - pencil script with no erasure is more convincing legally......

no offence taken, rsvp, it's one of the disciplines of trading markets......a very powerful one in the courts. I have mentioned it before.

I am going to sound completely thick and my excuse is stress, lack of food and sleep lol.

What shall I keep a diary of? My thoughts? Any contact between me and ex? Contact from police?

contact between your ex and you, or his family/friends if they go into your relationship or split.

it all sounds fishy to me....doubt the police would ever make such a phone call..they would visit you, if at all....I would go to police station and thrash this out !

Ex lives in herts I live in south London so 2 different police forces. I've briefly spoken to my local police officer and he's going to call me when back at the station so we can discuss things in greater detail and he can confer with his sergeant

Quick update. I spoke to my local police last night and he has emailed the police officer who contacted me to find out exactly what my ex has said and will be calling me back today.

He agreed with me that it's completely childish and wasting everyone's time when it can be sorted out amicably like adults.

Ggrrr all of this over 50 bloody quid!!
