As some of you may know I have in the past tried hard to defend the 'moderate Muslims' though I was troubled by the fact that in the Stacey Dooley film, 'Luton', out of a Muslim population of 30,000 such a few (I think about 100) could spew out such venom seemingly without much (or any) reproach from the remaining majority;

BBC dumbing down to a degree that I can't quite believe.

Ms Dooley interviews someone who is going to educate her about Islam. According to Ms Dooley, her contact [Omar] is someone she worked with at Luton airport and is, "... completely in the know about Islam and muslims, he's a real hive [sic] of knowledge...".

Wow. Doesn't the journalistic integrity impress?

Dooley: "You're super-in-the-know. I wondered if you could really dumb it down for me? What is Sharia Law?"

Omar: "Sharia Law is a method of living in the world. That's what helps you to be a muslim everyday. For example, adultery is seen in Sharia law and its penalty is given as, something like, stoning. And that's shocking. But, it's almost fictional because in order for the punishment to go ahead, (1) people need to accuse you; (2) you need to have four witnesses (that don't just see, like a man on top of a woman that see penetration). The point of that is Sharia law shows you that punishments or penalties for crimes are actually just huge deterrents. They're are spiritual deterrents if you think about it."

Just think about those words for a moment.

This "super-in-the-know" muslim thinks that stonings are fictional. He confuses adultery with *rape* by falsely saying that it requires four witnesses to verify "adultery", or as we call non-consensual sex, rape.

I'm sorry for writing this but - seriously, What The Funicular?!? This man is a cretin of the highest order and yet is being described by the BBC as some kind of Islamic expert.
Birdie,it's the massive elephant in the room unfortunately:-(
The elephant is no longer in the room, it's out and on the rampage.
Just watched the clip again. I didn't quite believe it the first time. But now it is clear to me that Ms Dooley is a "useful idiot". As are the people at the BBC who allowed this fraudulent and wicked viewpoint to be aired.
birdie; I think "useful idiot" in relation to Stacey Dooley is grossly unfair, she is useful yes, but certainly not an idiot, and is excellent interviewer, avoiding confrontation and trying hard to be fair, she keeps her own ego at bay and if this sometimes means a bit flattery and cajoling then she does it with aplomb.
You, the viewer, are left to make up your own mind (which you obviously have), what more could one ask?
