When I was shopping a child knocked into me when running around and got a nose bleed.
The mother went loopy and demanded my name and address which I refused to give.
Just wondered (for future reference :-( )is one legally obliged to give details in situations such as this)

I would hope not.

But if you didn't give a name and address where is she going to send the compensation for getting blood on your clothes, or send your refund of the cost of your dry cleaning bill ?

…but no one seems to know off sure
If the mother kept an eye on the child, this wouldn't have happened. When she asked your details, you should have said you want her details to report her to child protection..she would have run off then.

No, you're not.
No, you do not have to give your name and address in these circumstances

Happy to give details to police - or in this case I would have left details with manager of shop( had I felt I had done something wrong) but I did not want a mental husband calling to smash my face in!! :-) It just set me wondering what legally I was obliged to do.
"why didnt you say:
I want the child's name and address oh and photos ?"

Adding, "Then I can come around and give him another one."
i still don't understand why the mother went loopy?
