ive been on 20mg for a year and asked my doc if i can start to reduce the dose now so now on 15 mg.i have a friend whos been on them for 6 years now and shes never mentioned an ecg but shes only on 20 mg.
Was on them for a fortnight two years ago. I felt so dark and depressed that I flushed them down the bog and immediately felt much better.
I have no personal experience of anti-depressants as I have never needed them, but heart problems have been shown to be brought on by this drug in some individuals and it is dose related.....the larger the dose, the greater the chance.

40mgms is not that big a dose, but your doctor may well be extra careful for good reasons.
