Is it possible to have a bodyless funeral? (ie, have a service but let the state dispose of the cadaver)?
Personally I find funerals a rip off. Ive got no money/insurance to bury myself with and wouldnt want (or expect) my family to pay for my cremation.
Thanks.

I went to a bodyless funeral a couple of weeks ago -well it wasn't a funeral just friends gathering in the deceased's local pub for a drink and remembering the person. The body was taken to the crem by van and disposed of without fuss. This is what the person asked for before death.
If you do want to use a funeral director then do not take the 1st quote !
A family friend was quoted £3500 for her dad's funeral. She kept on going round all the local undertakers asking them to better the last quote.
It really ***d them off but she got it down to £1300.
Retro ^^ that is exactly what I was saying about the cheapest way to get rid of a stiff!
I thought the funeral grant was paid to the funeral director unless the person organising had already paid it.

Then it would be paid into their account on production of the receipted account.

Asked my GP about this some years ago and apparently they are quiet picky as to what bodies they will accept.

Mamyalynne, have you no imagination!
Get a few invoices printed out in the name of a non existent funeral director!

Haha,
thanks for all replies
Stacks of imagination thanks, but maybe in creative writing - not to get money for a booze up under false pretences.
