Onwards and Downwards Continues in September 2015

Hello all,

Welcome to this month's Onwards & Downwards. We welcome anyone serious about losing weight and we offer support and kind thoughts - not magic fixes, just sensible help.

Well, the summer wasn't as hot as we expected was it? So perhaps it was less tempting to dip into the freezer for some ice cream :-)

Seasonal food available now includes cabbage, haddock, lamb, beetroot and chicory.

Here are a few healthy recipes:

This looks really yummy and full of goodness, apart from the halloumi which you could cut out or substitute for a healthier version.

We keep being told we should be eating more fish so how about this simple fish supper.

And as pumpkins are just coming into season this looks tasty too!

Don't forget your weekly weigh on Wednesday and remember we don't judge!

Thats right OG just short of a kilo. I Said no to a piece of cake at training today (see my halo). Its easier to say no when you are getting places I think.

I don't know what to say about your new scales OG. You and scales seem to have a very strange chemistry.
Either my scales or my body is having me on. Every day higher than previous >:-(

Ok the last couple of days I've been fractionally over the daily goal, maybe enough to stay the same, but all the previous days were under due to a heavy cold and little appetite.
Not that you haven't heard this before OG but pls try and just weigh yourself once a week. When you get used to doing that it will give you more peace of mind once you get used to it.
Just back from a fortnight in Albania where the food is just so delicious. Everything is cooked in olive oil of course and they do not understand the concept of low calorie ha ha. Weighing in on Saturday so will report back as to the disaster I feel awaits me!

Still stayed the same but that is ok but I would like a few pounds off before xmas .
Good luck for Saturday weigh in Maggiebee.
Good message there Wendilla about eating healthily. I don't count or measure anymore I just try to avoid the bad stuff!

Despite a couple of non healthy moments this week I am 1lb down. That's a good feeling, the sun is out and I have a cottage cheese lunch packed to take to work. Have a good day everyone, onwards and downwards.
well done maydup . That's what I do cut out the fat and the crap lol.
Good morning all

:-(( up a little bit hmmmmm.

good idea that Wendilla about Christmas
Oh, yes, Wednesday isn't it.

Due to a ridiculously high reading on the 23rd (straight after a ridiculously low reading the previous day) it looks as if I've lost 0.8 lbs. But ! If I look at the reading from last Thursday it shows I've increased by 1.2 lbs.

The readings have been "insane" this week. Unclear how to interpret them. Yes I had an awful cold and not eating that much over most of last week, and been a little over goal most days since but ... Maybe they'll have settled down by next Wednesday.
OG just for 1 week why don't you put that scales somewhere and forget about them till next Wednesday then you will get a true reading of you weight loss . You are not doing any good weighing daily . The only time I weigh in between is when I have been dining out more than usual then I have a few days to try and rectify it . Weighing daily would really set me back . Just try it for once .
I don't see the advantage. If some daily weighings are suspect then why wouldn't the Wednesday one not be ? I'm still perplexed by the readings though. Things should make sense.
OG, would it be better to be perplexed only once a week, instead of every day? I have lost something at last; 1lb yippee!
Good for you Maryijn. My problem at the moment is time. The better I get the more I can do in the house and the less time I have for my little walks because I have to ration my jobs because of my chronic tiredness hitch will go away in time. The more I walk the easier it is to loose weight because I'm eating the right things, so at the moment I'm in a catch 22 circle.
Thank you, Xstitcher. Since I've been wearing my pedometer every day it encourages me to walk more cos I can see how many steps I've taken. I got a basic one from the 99p shop.
How interesting Maryijn! What is a normal day's reading? Good for you on the loss!
