The entirely discredited scare story of a decade ago still seems to have an influence. According to the link, in some areas, vaccination has fallen to less than 80%.

Why are people not taking the advice of health visitors and their GPs ? Its a no brainer to me !

naomi24: Well said. Our very own DWP Vaccine Damage Payment Unit has paid out to children who have suffered severe damage following vaccines. Some of these children have died from the injuries they have suffered.

I don't think that the government's attitude of "YOU WILL have the combined vaccine, IT IS safe because we know best" combined with Tony Blair's refusal to say what decision he had made for his children, helped at all.

MMR works and does not cause autism ( whether or not some parents firmly believe it does ) and prevents death from Measles

and erm flu doesnt - last one - the CMO bought 50m doses and then admitted it didnt work

The vaccine manufacturers produce information sheets which list the adverse reactions. Health professionals will tell parents about the minor events - rashes, slight temperature changes stating that these are very common. They will sometimes also explain about the possibility of fever fits and blood platelet problems also listed in the sheets. Sometimes they will even mention the possibility of encephalitis which is listed as 'rarely reported'. This takes me back to my earlier posts when I mentioned about health professionals failing to report all suspected reactions and the inadequate monitoring and failure to follow up to ensure all have fully recovered.
Encephalopathy, encephalitis - inflammation of the brain- can lead to a range of long term disabilities including loss of speech and communication, loss of understanding, behaviour changes, seizures, sleep problems etc. When health professionals state that MMR does not cause autism they may be right, vaccine damage may be the better term.
