How about waiting a couple of weeks to see what all they come up with and then debate the rights and wrongs?
"How about waiting a couple of weeks to see what all they come up with and then debate the rights and wrongs? "

Hear hear. But sadly I fear ...
It's unlikely they will come up with anything that will work.

The solution as i see it is that we need to separate the true Asylumn seekers in real danger and those that are simply trying to get to a better life by-paasing the correct channles.

To do this we need to set up holding camps where people can be processed. Then, those not eligible including women and children should be shipped back. Those that refuse to say where they come from should be treated as criminals and locked up. This is the only solution that benefits countries being over run and people in genuine danger who are stuck in the middle. The problem is the EU does not have the balls to do this.
There will never be a solution until the situation in the originating countries improves to the point where it is more tolerable to stay home than risk your life to get out. That will not happen any time soon.

According to the Guardian Website I 'have reached my free article limit'
so I'll just have to wait and see!
Or Eddie the EU makes it such that the benefits of arriving in the EU for people who are not in danger is not worthwhile.

Many of these people are clearly not in danger or they would gratrfully accept asylum in the first country they land in rather than refusing it and pushing on to other countries.
Nothing very mysterious about it. The solution is known: refuse "asylum" to all illegal immigrants.

I chose the Guardian because, while it makes all the expected noises, it acknowledges that despite the "harshness" of the Abbot government's there have been no illegal immigrants and no deaths at sea.
The solution is summed up in one of the article's headings:
"No resettlement, no boats".
Telegraph...Balders.

I have the same problem.

Well spotted, yes, Telegraph!
