I have just found two big tins of pears at the back of my kitchen cupboard. Lord knows why I bought them. Does anyone have any ideas for using them ?

A pavlova.

Make, or buy, a meringue.

Whip cream and splodge over meringue and top with pEars, drizzle with melted chocolate and toasted hazelnuts.

If you fancy something savoury, griddle them and serve with a salad of chicory, blue cheese and sweet/salty caramelised walnuts or almonds.
That's ^ just what I was going to suggest..that or eat them straight from the can!
In your vest and pants of course!
Pear & ginger crumble
Apologies for pipping you to the post Talbot ;-)
You put the pears in a big bowl with the contents of a big tin of condensed milk, add a big spoon and enjoy.
I'd use them as emergency door-stops....
Nigella did chocolate sponge mixture on top of tinned pears and served it with cream mmmm!
......and she purred as she ate them....
Ohhhhh

Thanks all. I think I will try the choc sponge on top. Sounds delicious and quick. I know a nice salad dressing come to think of it, Mayo, onion, garlic and pear all whizzed together. Just a tiny bit of onion and garlic.
Thanks cap'n. Just off for a lie down.
Put them into a juicer/liquidiser with other fruits and have a smoothie.
Add them to a fruit salad with fresh raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and chopped melon. Yummy!
strain away the liquid, liquidize the pears. transfer to a freezer container and freeze. Every half hour take out and fork to break up crystals. You now have pear sorbet.
