I have taken early retirement and have a small superannuation pension only. I have recently withdrawn two small pot pensions lump sums and apart from the first 25% I have been taxed. The companies advised me to reclaim the tax which was stopped but I don't know how to do this. I have made many attempts to ring HMRC - but am kept on the phone incessantly.
Before I try again can anyone save me ??? Please

As you've got income other than through PAYE earnings, you'll need to complete an annual tax return, so any refund should find its way to you automatically anyway.

If you want to claim earlier, start here:

Depending on the level of superannuation income, you may not be entitled to all of it back.
The company should have issued you with a P45 in respect of the taxable element, showing the gross amount and the tax paid at 20%.
As far as I know, you can't reclaim the tax until the end of the 2015/16 tax
year.
