I'm looking for a tried and tested recipe for Sweet Apple Chutney.

There are hundreds online but the last time I selected one at random the end result was sour and watery. The main ingredient needs to be apple as I have a glut. I also have plenty of runner beans if anyone has a sweet apple and runner bean chutney recipe that works well.

Where are you going wrong ? ..wheter a recipe is recommended on AB or sourced online, all you do is interprating the instructions.
If I were you I would start small and reduce the amount of ingredients by half ( as they are stated in any recipe ) .. that way there is more chance of success.
If you are to concentrating on getting rid of a glut of apples you are doomed from the start, who want's a bucket full of sludge or something you dont like at all.
Keep it simple .. I find this site useful for basic recipes ... http://www.allotment-garden.org/recipe/?s=apple+chutney
Ther are loads on there and they are not written for people with a store cupboard like a celebrity chefs !

One more thing .. The Glut of Apples .. compost them !
All you need do is follow the recipes and add little extras if you want to change things a bit.

I'm not sure where I went wrong, maybe the recipe wasn't one of the best. It would be good to try one that someone has used themselves and can recommend to me.

I love sweet apple chutney and would like to make some with my with my plentiful supply.
Concentrate on the recipe .. as for most of them you will only use 1-2 apples. So you will never clear a glut.

Other option is find your local allotment society and find out if they do an 'apple pressing day'.... It should be soon!
Take your wheelbarrow full of apples, along with a load of empty bottles .. and leave a note to say you might be late home !
Problem solved ... although your next question may be ...

.. "How do I get rid of a headache I've had for 3 days" .. ?

Thanks A, but I'm just looking for a nice recipe; not too worried about dealing with the glut as I will compost the apples or rake them under the hedge for the birds.

Does anyone have a tried and tested, delicious sweet apple chutney recipe they can share with me.
sorry may..I wait and buy it from WI stall !!
