What are you recording them with Caran? Betamax? ;) x
The only way I would think is while its recording keep an eye on the time its supposed to finish, then watch the last few minutes then stop the recording.

Whats the reason Caran?

So many programmes I record do not record the endings, they finish short.
was just teasing you earlier Caran....what are you using? Virgin Tivo, or a Sky box? or something else? x x
Caran, if that's happening a lot, why not set the next programme to "record" also, that way you'll be sure of catching then ending. My Tivo box always allows a generous 7 minutes extra at the end of each programme, and I think I can alter that to longer if I want.
With a Sky box you can set how much extra you want recording at the start and end of each program.

Go into the Sky box settings.

On my Sky box it is set to "Automatic" but you can change it to things like "5 minutes" and so on (cant remember exact details)
We have the same problem - we just record the next programme as well, and then watch the last few minutes on that.
In theory this shouldn't happen, but we all know it does. The TV companies should transmit signals telling your recorder when to start/stop. Unfortunately some of the companies are much worse at doing this correctly than others.

This is a reply from Freeview to a similar complaint:-

Dear ,

Thank you for contacting Freeview.

It is the individual broadcaster that is responsible for sending these start/stop signals out. BBC are usually very accurate and often other broadcasters less so, but this is evolving technology and hopefully it will improve dramatically across the board in future.

If we can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us by either calling us directly on 08708 809 980 seven days a week from 8.00am to 10.00pm, or again by email to [email protected]

I have a Tivo box and you can set the extra minutes you want to add on the end of recordings.
I have hard drive recorder and can set it for however much longer I want as a default
