We had some Manx kippers last week which were lovely and Mr T declared that we don't eat enough fish. I have to agree with him. This fish pie is an effort to eat more of the good stuff. Usually, we eat a lot of meat. The only thing I have against fish is the smell that lingers, afterwards.
When we go out for a meal, we usually choose the fish option. I can understand that not everyone likes fish, though. Smelly stuff.

Anyway, I seem to have cracked it with the fish pie. My trick was to use a bigger dish to bake it in. No oozing....Yeah. It's almost done.
what's it served with and is that oozing - surely not ouzo to drink with it as well?

Only had Manx kipper fillets, DTC. I couldn't cope with one with a head and a tail.
Boil some vinegar and water in a saucepan, to get rid of the smell of fish in the kitchen, Tilly.
the cheek muscle is the sweetest muscle in any fish - think how their mouths open and shut to take in water across their gills, plenty of usage.....try one next time!
a couple of matches lit off the box will do the same thing, the phosphorous acting as the deo......it's why many folk keep a box of them on their khazis.
why worry Tills, are you eating the pie or grouting with it?

Pie eaten with some green beans and mange tout, lovely. No spillage, no seepage, no suppuration, no percolation and no mess. All done. Dish is now soaking. Slight smell of fish in the house but not too much. Happy bunny.
