Do you find it annoying the time lag, sometimes up to 8 or 10 seconds between the live spoken word and the subtitles. The BBC news is one example. The newscasters do rely on autocue so why can't the people responsible for typing be more real time.

or even put the autocue as the subtitle ?

as someone not very deaf I am laying in BSL and lip reading to insure for the day that I lose all hearing

and my deafer relatives ( yeah genetic so we all know what the future is for us ) say: "oo I doan wanna do thaaaat" ....

I record and watch a lot of the signed news bulletins ( 8 - 0820 and 1300 )
news doesnt change that fast
We have live captioning in theatres and on live cinema screenings these days and the qulaity is good. TV however has never improved the service, still slow and often inaccurate. Time for a serious upgrade.
i don't think it's typed in - i thnk its speech recognition
it seems to be voice recognition as bednobs says. When I was watching the cricket the other day, toecrusher came out as Coke Russia. No human being, cricket follower or not, would write anything so daft.
