I believe Barack Obama has Irish ancestors on his mother's side. He came to Ireland and visited his ancestral home town of Moneygall, and made a speech calling himself "Barack O'Bama of the Moneygall O'Bamas". I think that is about as unlikely a connection as you could get.

I’m the person originally looking for the information, and yes ichkeria you’re right — it’s purely people you might not think would have an Irish mother. That would have been a better way of phrasing it.

Just a couple of points: JennyKenny — there’s absolutely no proof that Wellington ever uttered the line, “Because a man is born in a stable does not make him a horse.” The earliest attribution is an Irish politician quoting the phrase about Wellington. But no evidence of Wellington ever saying it himself.

Sullivans from Kerry?? Thatcher's ancestors?? Lord.....my ancestry too..... now what shall I do?... :-(
oops, sorry posted too soon
... Agatha Christie's mother was English and there is - and was - no such thing as "English" nationality, which is presumably what you mean. She could only have been Irish if she had assumed Irish nationality. And I don't think that is what the OP meant.
If you go back far enough most people have some "unexpected" ethnic trace
