Having just stumbled upon yet another recipe for summer pudding, is there anyone out there who actually likes it? To me it's just a waste of beautiful fruit - why on earth eat fruit surrounded by soggy white bread? Yuk!

I completely agree with you.
But I believe it can also be made with madeira cake.....which would certainly perk it up for me.
I agree diddly, the thought of it makes me heave. Although nice ingredients on their own I can't stand anything with mixed textures, especially wet spongey stuff - why I can't bear trifle, black forest gateau, rum babas and of course summer pudding!
Never tried summer pudding. I like trifle though.
It's vile. Who likes soggy purple bread ?
Its better made with brioche, and instead of a pudding bowl do a layer of brioche in an rectangular dish, lay in your fruit on top, then top with brioche. Weigh it down overnight then top with whipped cream flavored with lavender or rose syrup.
The best use for stale bread is Queen of Puddings!
we used to get that( queen of puddings) a school it was disgusting
Diddlydo, I'm with you.

But give me Eton Mess and day and I could eat it until I'm sick!
I'm the same with Marks and Spencer raspberry trifle -I could eat a family sized one easy, with a serving spoon.
I agree, the very idea of it makes me want to throw up.
Oh yes - M&S Raspberry Trifle and Eton Mess, food of the Gods.
Yum Yum, M&S's Summer Pudding! Love it. But I like Eton Mess better.
Yes, I like it.
