We were givrn a quote for 7 solar panels to be fitted, but when dong the job today were told they could only fit 6, which of course reduces any pay back. We were told they would refund £150, which on a £7200 bill doesn't seem enough . Are we being too naïve? The panels are PV evolution + 10.
I would consider £500 to be fair. The survey should have highlighted the situation and then you could have made an informed choice. As a matter of interest what is the predicted payback time on your 1500w system.
The person who did the original quote didn't do his/her job properly and YOU are the ones paying for his/her mistake.
Presumably, there was a contract for fitting seven panels...so they have broken the terms of the contract. You need to take this further....£150 refund is laughable.
Just thought...this may be a ploy that this company tries on numerous occasions. Just think of the profit being made by only fulfilling part of the contract. Perhaps you should involve Trading Standards?
can you get an anonymous telephone quote from the company for a 6 panel system, then you wll have the difference. i've just seen that same panel on ebay for £185 brand new so it may be worth finding that and showing them
the cost of the panel is not the point. merejeans will lose the the benefit of one panel AND the income from any excess energy sent back to the national grid. You may have shot yourself in the foot by accepting the installation. CAB or trading standards may be able to give you your legal situation.
