The police can't track and stop international terrorists who communicate via the web - do you really think they have a chance (or the time!!!) to chase down some people who sell dodgy costumes to immature attention-seekers?

Answer to post - I think they do.
I'm tired of saying how much I loved my 'golly' brooches as a child, I don't see them as racist. I have in my possession a book by Enid Blyton in which in one story the Golly is the hero of the day. I never thought of gollies as bad, they were naughty sometimes, like the pixies, but loveable characters.
I suppose you could say that these people have taken an innocent depiction and are using it as a racist taunt - this is very sad. :(

Police Scotland (yup one force, many farces) will be attending to every call for the next wee while to avoid a repeat of the tragic case of the two unfortunates who were in a crashed car for three days down a motorway embankment despite the vehicle having been reported to them.
The driver dead at the scene and his partner sadly dying as a result of injuries and complications, in hospital.
A footnote to that case is that Police Scotland had to send a senior officer to the home of the family of the deceased young woman, Lamara Bell, to inform them that, should they check the voicemail on her mobile phone when it's eventually returned to them, they'll hear a peace officer address the young woman by name and asking if she knows of the whereabouts of her missing cousin. She had been dead for quite some time and her name was top of the news for days.
The gollywogs may be safe from detection for a while yet.

In a rational world, no it wouldn't be an issue as, unless I missed something, the intent was not insult but merely part of the parade dressed up as a loved character. But of course little is rational in this world.
Some are offended at the inoffensive, and justify it by making strange claims, others feel they should be offended, and yet again more opt to be offended on behalf of others. (Which leads me to wonder if the complainers had brown or pink skin colour.)
I suspect the police are obliged to investigate the complaint. But unless the individuals concerns were acting badly it should have been a simple, "Ah ok, no offence, carry on then".
It is all very well not wishing to cause offence, but banning the inoffensive offends many. Folk just need to get a life. And society stop pandering to the most thin skinned.

Who said anything about tracking down international terrorists? and regarding tracking down sellers of your presumably 'dodgy costumes' this outlet is a legitimate seller of fancy dress costumes.
If like you the police think such costumes were unlawful, the company could easily be tracked down, seeing that they provide an email address, a telephone number as well as their full postal address.

Who said anything about tracking down international terrorists? and regarding tracking down sellers of your presumably 'dodgy costumes' this outlet is a legitimate seller of fancy dress costumes.
