Very fine words Mr Cameron, but this should have been stopped years ago.

It is little use publishing a list of foreign own buildings in the Autumn, but what should be done is for a law to be brought in that if a building isn't occupied within a certain time, the government should put a compulsory purchase order on it.

Or even a tax, after all isn't that done if some happen to have a spare unoccupied bedroom?

I suspect it's the Spanish getting back at us for our criminals buying up property in Spain. Who's the daddy!

I really thought the 'Bedroom Tax Myth' had been explained and no longer referred to as a Tax, however it appears some have still not 'got it'

It is not that some have 'still not got it', as you so rudely suggest, but just usage of a popular term.
In this instance, foreign means Russian.

Just a bit of cold war sabre rattling.

It would be better if houses bought with dirty money from criminal activity on these shores such as drug dealing, were prioritised than the proceeds of crimes in Russia.

Cameron was speaking in Singapore, and although directly calling for a global effort to tackle corruption, he was indirectly having a dig at South-East Asian criminals.

Are you responsible for your fathers actions bouncer?
As fromit days this is sabre rattling. Dont agree on tge dtugs bit though any property obtained illegally or through ill gotten gains can and is seized and sold off.
Ymb,
Have you got my iPhone? :-)

I am aware that assets of convicted drugsters can be possessed, but many of these people can evade the law. I know of one prolific drug imported who son cough up for his father who has still got his mansion.
// imported who son cough up for his father who has still got his mansion. //

Can't blame the phone for that one.

What I meant to say was the son admiited to crimes committed by his father, and went to prison. The father stayed out of jail and kept his house.

Just to cheer you who, they are Asian :-)

What has a legitimate tax avoidance loophole got to do with illegal money laundering?
That means money illegally gained by criminals like the Russian mafia and hidden in property purchases.
Nothing ILLEGAL what Osborn's family have done but I can understand your difficulty in seeing that.

Do you understand the difference between avoidance and illegal activity?
I'm sorry to say your looking rather foolish.
my typis are due to fat fingers on a smartphone btw.
Tax avoidance schemes are not illegal, but they are morally dubious.

At heart, they are unfair - because they are not open to those of us who are on P.A.Y.E.

If I were able to reduce my tax bill, I would certainly do so - but there is no way that it can be right for some to be paying 3% tax.

And remember - some of these schemes have been abused - whilst the letter of the law was being followed, the spirit of the law was being twisted like a Lithuanian gymnast.

/// Perhaps a Daily Mail link will help you to see the wood for the trees AOG. ///

A little hypocritical of you Gromit, presenting a Daily Mail link so as to try and support your argument.

But it has back fired on you, this from the Daily Mail report.

/// The revelations come as a surge in the number of foreign investors, often Russian and Asian, investing in luxury London properties has seen prices soar over recent years. ///
