Who has a father that is in his 80's and is being abused by his daughters and wife including the GP, what would you do? Surely being in a position of trust, GP should not allow that to happen to anyone let alone their own father. The father told me not to say anything and things will calm down. He said if i say anything they will throw him out of his own home. What do i do?

This definitely needs reporting then, phleb. If he is in his eighties and is being beaten, then he will definately have bruising, having ageing thin skin etc. Poor man.

I find it hard to believe that neighbors have taken in this poor old man and know of his story yet have not contacted anyone. And where does the GP come into it that was mentioned in the OP?
I usually find common knowledge can also be translated as common gosdip or tittle tattle!!!
retrocop -well there is that factor I agree. This behaviour could easily be put down to the old man suffering dementia, even the noises coming from 'behind the walls' .
