In tidying up my cupboard I found some discontinued Euro notes.
(I compared them to notes I just used this month)
Where in the UK can I exchange the old notes for current ones as not planning to cross the Channel again in 2015.

Are you sure they're "discontinued"? Not sure any country has done that yet - but each country has it's own note designs as they print them, there is no one fixed design across the entire Eurozone. Maybe you are just comparing them from two different countries?
Ignore that previous answer - i'm talking rubbish. Notes are common, it's Euro coins that differ in design.
There are no 'discontinued ' Euro notes, the ones you found are just a valid as any others. There are many designs of note as each EU country issued it's own. Just take them to your bank and change them or keep them to spend later.
However, it does appear that we're still in the change-over period and that older €5 and €10 notes (the only ones changed so far) are still valid across the Eurozone.

Having just returned from Spain can reassure you that the old and new notes are completely mixed up, they are not discontinued at all.
with respect the 500 euro note was discontinued as it was being used to much to launder drug money.
The actual design of the notes is the same but they were issued by different countries , the country of issue is designated by a 3 code on the note.
Sorry Eddie, not totally true - as i just found out. Note designs are done by the EBC and, issuing country name aside, identical across Europe.

There's a new "series" of notes called the Europa series, €5 issued 2013, €10 issued 2014 and €20 issued this year. More to follow.

However, there is no date yet for the older notes to cease being valid so ANY Euro note out there (old style or new) is a valid as any other, for now.

Many thanks for all the replies. As MOH scoffed the Anton Berg liqueur chocolates I might have an excuse to return to Amsterdam .....
