Hi All

I have been unfortunate to have my caravan stolen from a campsite. I have been storing the van there for over three years. I have my own insurance on the van and contents. I pay an annual fee to store the van on a pitch throughout the year. I have been led to believe and certainly had the impression that this was a "secure" site. However, the site owner has implied that at no point did they sell the site as secure. I would like to gain anybody's advise as to whether I have any rights to claim for inconvenience & upset.
I'd be interested in anybody's help & advise.
Many Thanks

I think your first point of call is your insurer - they should sort these things out for you
Your van is insured and its contents. 'inconvenience and upset' cannot be insured for as it is subjective.
is there anything written down that suggested it was secure? If not, how did you form that impression? Did anyone say something specific?

Your first recourse would be to the insurer, anyway - depending what it was insured against. If you were covered agaisnt theft, make a claim on it, and let them sort out with the site owner who's to blame.

Did the site issue you with terms & conditions? if you lf you know someone else that has a van on the same site, ask them if they are aware of the terms can you not claim Inconvenience & upset from your own insurance?

///can you not claim Inconvenience & upset from your own insurance?///

I'd like to know what Company covered those ^^^ ?

What does say in your Contract about Security, I assume you have a Contract for storing the 'van which defines who takes responsibility for what?
check the sites website see if they make any claims about being secure. I`m surprised no one on the site noticed someone pull up hitch up and drive away. was it clamped?
It's the circumstances in which you were 'been led to believe' that are the crux of the problem. If you thought the site was secure, why did you have it insured?
Zcs....Vans have been known to go on fire.
Do they have CCTV on site? If so, anything sown up on the theft?
